Joseph E. Brito is a PhD candidate (ABD) at the Department of Religion, Concordia University. He holds a BTh and MA from the Université de Montréal in the field of Theology, as well as studies in English literature and Humanities. His dissertation focuses on the language of slavery and its relation to the body in Paul's letter to the Galatians, using a Latinx lens to address previous postcolonial scholarship. His PhD dissertation is funded by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec Société et Culture (FRQSC). Joseph's scholarly interests are centered in the topic of Roman slavery and minority studies, employing mostly canonical and apocryphal gospels as case examples, through a syncretism of post-colonial, Latinx and Gender theories.
